By and large, laser eye surgery at the Roholt Vision Institute is relatively low-risk. Our surgeons are more experienced and advancements in laser technology have significantly reduced the incidence of post-surgery complications.

It is important to note though that there is no such thing as a risk-free surgery. In laser eye surgery, there is always the possibility of risks following the procedure such as dry eyes, vision problems in low light, halos in vision, and sudden changes in vision years following surgery. The good news is most of these potential risks, side effects, and complications can be prevented if you take steps to avoid them from occurring in the first place. We outline these measures below.

Seek a laser eye surgeon who has sufficient experience and has performed countless laser eye surgeries. He or she should have undergone sufficient education and training specific to performing laser eye surgery.
Divulge everything there is to know about your health during the personal consultation including past reasons of hospitalization, past and current prescription, allergies, and existing health issues.
Strictly follow doctor’s orders, particularly when it comes to eye drops to prevent dry eyes.
Make sure that you adhere to follow-up visits following laser eye surgery. This will help your surgeon monitor your progress and check for complications.
